Oh hey! If you’re just joining us, I’m Ben, Editor-in-chief here at DoSomething, and I am *pumped* to introduce you to our community newsletter. It’s called WYD (What You’re Doing) and it’s all about, well, what DoSomething members like you are doing (to change the world).  I’ll send WYD every Tuesday with incredible stories, photos, quotes, impact numbers and, of course, ways to take action with the worldwide DoSomething community. (Plus, keep an eye out -- you may get featured!)  LET'S DO THIS,

As a Child, Caroline Spent Weeks in the Hospital. Now She’s Brightening the Day of Kids Experiencing the Same. The 18-year-old DoSomething member made 25 activity books to unleash the power of play.  An illness hospitalized Caroline for two weeks as a middle schooler, leaving her not just scared, but bored and lonely too. Today, she’s giving back, and joined the DoSomething members who are making activity books to help kids in the hospital play mad libs, tic-tac-toe, and other games.  “If I had had activity books like these [in the hospital], the time would've gone by faster, and I would've been reminded of the people out there who thought about me,” Caroline says. “I want to take [kids’] minds off of negative things and help them have fun, instead.”  Learn why support from strangers is so important for kids in the hospital, and how you can join our Huddle to Brighten Someone's Day campaign, powered by NFL Huddle for 100.

He created Diatom, a superhero marine biologist, and posted his artwork in a local school to inspire students.  “I come from a Latino family myself, and I am aware of the fact that my little sister and cousins are less likely to be exposed to STEM careers,” Roberto says. “I wanted Diatom to show all kids, but especially my sister, that girls are super powerful, and that if she wants to make a better world she can use a STEM career to do so.” Â

More Amazing Impact From the DoSomething Community  Last week, we asked you to brag about amazing stuff you’re doing, and you did not disappoint. Here are some of our favorite answers from the DoSomething community. (And submit yours here!)  “I started a 3-month non-partisan campaign before the Indian elections. I held workshops in rural areas to educate people more about voter rights and electoral system, and reached 300+ people!”  “I've banded together a group of friends and close allies to create a production team for school videos made to uplift the young minds of our school.”  “I was interviewed on a vegan teen panel. I am helping my health, our Earth, and the animals.”  “I am educating lower grades for free in school who are poor and need help.”  “I got interviewed by a news station and put on TV at the last Masonic All-Star Marching Band!” Copyright © 2019 , All rights reserved.
