Hey, y’all! Ben here, with your second edition of WYD (What You’re Doing), our weekly community newsletter about, well, what DoSomething members are doing to transform their communities. Keep an eye on your inbox for WYD every Tuesday, and scroll down for members saving lives on the road, changing definitions in the dictionary, and absolutely *crushing* our national cleanup campaign. A Seat Belt Saved Amy’s Life. Now She’s Helping Save Others. Driving home with friends from dance class last summer, Amy’s car was hit by a drunk driver. Their car flipped two and a half times. Amy and her friends were left hanging upside-down by their seat belts.
“We walked away with minor injuries,” says the 18-year-old DoSomething member, “but if we had made the grave mistake of not clicking our belts, our friends and families would have lost us forever.”
“Be smart,” she says, “and you can save your life and others.” That’s exactly what Amy is doing, having posted 29 flyers to remind friends and family to buckle up. This Fourth of July week, join her and the DoSomething members who have already posted 12,000+ flyers.
She shared our guide with her mom and sister to help them travel sustainably this summer.
