My parents’ house here in Ohio is full of memorabilia from my (mostly forgettable) sports career, including my JV basketball glasses and SICK tennis combover, thanks to an untimely gust of wind.
Nostalgia is great, but it’s also masking the disappointment of not having any sports right now. I love watching The Last Dance with my dad, but I’m also missing my Buckeyes’ March Madness run and watching Zion Williamson plow through every human being in sight.
And although seasons are cancelled, athletes like Zion are unleashing the power of sports to build community and make a difference for those impacted by COVID-19. Same with the student-athletes in the DoSomething community. Read on to learn how you can join them.
Let’s Do This,

DoSomething member Elisa, 18, joined the thousands of DoSomething members swapping stories to help older adults stay connected through our Senior Homies campaign.
“My grandma shared with me her experience while running from Communism in China,” Elisa said. “She had four children and traveled across many countries before coming to the United States. It's hard to imagine what she went through and I admire her so much for her strength during these hardships.”
