Hey team! I thought my athletic career was basically over...and then quarantine happened. Over the last eight weeks, I’ve been throwing a baseball with my dad, surviving daily pandemHIIT workouts with my sister, and teaching my eight-year-old niece how to hoop. (Only a matter of time ‘til she’s Euro stepping right by me.)
Meanwhile, DoSomething members are unleashing the power of sports to impact COVID-19, and we want to celebrate Impact Players like you! Join us on an Instagram Live @dosomething tomorrow, Wednesday May 20 at 7:00 PM EST, for the #oneteam rally, powered by ESPN and the Special Olympics, and hosted by the Denver Broncos’ Dalton Risner, with a DJ set by Aluna of AlunaGeorge!
Let’s Do This,
Oh, The Places We’ll Go…When This Is Over Join DoSomething members like Americus, 17, by sharing road safety tips with a friend for when physical distancing guidelines are lifted.
Problem
Motor vehicle crashes are still a leading cause of death for young people, and 6 out of 10 teen crashes involve distracted driving. Plus, 57% of young people feel super frustrated during this time of COVID. The biggest driver of frustration? All they've lost and are missing out on.
Solution
81% of people say they’d be less likely to drive distracted if their close friends and family encouraged them not to. So take a quiz to receive a customized digital road safety card (or one you can print). Then share the card with a friend to keep them safe while traveling to your favorite spots together when physical distancing guidelines are lifted.
Looking for inspo? DoSomething member Americus, 17, recently lost two classmates in a crash, and shared a card with a friend about staying safe on the way to their next sushi date.
Chris’s volleyball season was cancelled, so DoSomething member Sunnee, 18, (magically floated in the window?) and gave him an Impact Player Award to celebrate his positivity. “Chris is always positive during his game times and will always motivate his other fellow teammates to strive to do better,” Sunnee says.
