Hey y’all. Are you stressed? Are you feeling anxious? Are you tired of being asked rhetorical questions to which the answer is obviously YES?
I feel you. And the DoSomething community has your back. Our members have created this crowdsourced mental health guide and these physical distancing tips by and for Gen Z. Plus, we’ve got a self-care guide for studying and a campaign where you can share your own anti-stress tips with young people around the country.
Hang in there. We’ll get through this together. I promise.
Let’s Do This, Ben, Editor-in-chief
First We Voted. Now, the DoSomething Community Is Making Sure Newly Elected Leaders Will Keep Fighting for Us DoSomething registered 255,991 new voters this year, and our members helped power a massive Youth Wave during the 2020 election with record-breaking youth voter registration and turnout. And your impact doesn’t end at the polls!
Through our Poll Call campaign, thousands of DoSomething members have let their newly elected representatives know the most pressing issues their communities are facing -- and demand their action and support. No matter who you voted for, you have the power to hold your lawmakers and representatives accountable. After all, they work for you.
“The use of nonrenewable resources needs to be first addressed,” says DoSomething member Torin, 16. “Soon fossil fuels will pollute all the air and water on the planet, and we need to make rapid changes to prevent this.”
“First I want lawmakers to reunite immigrant children and families together and help make a plan that will allow them to permanently stay instead of separating them,” says DoSomething member Jacqueline.
“COVID-19 is the most pressing issue right now!” says DoSomething member Tsaiwei, 20. “It's more important than ever to put restrictions on this virus to prevent more deaths and to help bring business owners, students, and everyone else back to a normal lifestyle.”
Answer three simple questions about how you want your newly elected officials to stand up for your community. We’ll use your opinions to create the largest EVER crowdsourced report on what young people really think, and make sure your lawmakers hear your voice.

More Amazing Impact From the DoSomething Community!
We asked you to brag about the amazing stuff you’re doing, and you did not disappoint. Here are some of our favorite answers from the DoSomething community. (Psst...submit yours here!)
“I decided to start a thank you campaign to express our thanks to the local frontline workers at a hospital for Thanksgiving. I worked with two clubs at my school, and we made and delivered more than 50 cards and we made a video thanking all the frontline workers. This video has received media attention and has already been seen by tens of thousands of frontline workers.”
- DoSomething member Akash, 16, Florida
“Over the past few weeks, I have spent hours cutting and tying plastic bags that would otherwise have been thrown away, and tied them into long rolls of plastic yarn, which will be woven by others into a mat for either the homeless or people in third world countries to sleep on.”
- DoSomething member Alyson, 17, United States
“I recently cut my hair and donated it to Wigs for Kids, an organization that makes wigs for kids and young adults that are dealing with hair loss. It is the fourth time I do this and I am proud of myself because I helped others and I brought some happiness into their lives.”
